I’m Lara Ozaki, a journalist and translator currently based in Guam, a U.S. island territory in the Western Pacific. I’m originally from Philadelphia and subsequently lived in Southern California and Tokyo before moving to the island at the end of 2015.

I’m a staff reporter for Glimpses Publications covering regional business news and features. I also work on various features for its lifestyle magazines and other supplements.

I hold a B.A. in Business and Media, Communications and Culture from the International Christian University in Tokyo and am bilingual in English and Japanese. I’m passionate about storytelling and building bridges.

I’m currently working on other projects including blogging about Japanese culture, language and life for Go! Go! Nihon and a variety of Japanese-English translation projects for clients in media, tech, consumer goods and services.

You can find some writing samples in my portfolio or read some of my personal ramblings here on my blog.

I try to lead a healthy lifestyle but am not too strict, because I believe balance is key to all aspects of life. I love beaching, sunsets and the sound of waves. I love to sing, play the violin, read chic lit and actually Netflix and chill. I love champagne and pinot noir and makgeolli. I love meeting new people, traveling and learning new things. I am awesome at googling.
